Fed: Aust must calculate economic impact of climate change: Rudd

KEVIN RUDD'S called for an Australian report to calculate the economic cost of climate
change .. following the release of the UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change
report.

The opposition leader says a report should be prepared similar to the one economist
Sir NICHOLAS STERN recently did for the British government.

He says Australia will suffer economic and job losses due to climate change .. and
it should be calculated.

The IPCC report .. released in Brussels last night .. says Australia can expect worsening
drought conditions and water shortages over the next 20 to 50 years .. and the loss of
the Great Barrier Reef within the next two decades.
