FED: 15 per cent of Canberra homes remain without power - ACTEW

CANBERRA, Jan 19 AAP - Power has been restored to more Canberra homes in the wake ofdevastating bushfires, but 15 per cent of the city remains without electricity.

Electricity and gas were turned off in large swaths of the city late yesterday, onthe advice of emergency services personnel, as the fires swept through suburbs in Canberra'ssouth, west and north.

At one stage up to one-quarter of the city was without power.
