Qld: Residents evacuated after tanker overturns

BRISBANE, Dec 30 AAP - About 20 residents from four homes were evacuated today after
a petrol tanker overturned on the Bruce Highway near Mt Larcom in Queensland.

The tanker crashed at the intersection of the highway and Point Curtis Way, west of
Gladstone, just before 4pm (AEST), a police spokeswoman said.

She said the homes were evacuated because of leaking fuel.

Police asked people to avoid the area with the highway not expected to reopen until midnight.

The tanker driver received minor injuries in the accident and was taken to hospital.

Police were diverting traffic around the scene.
