Qld: Hanson could face problems in jail
One Nation founder PAULINE HANSON has been moved to the Brisbane women's prison amidwarnings that she could face problems in jail because of her controversial political views.
HANSON and party co-founder DAVID ETTRIDGE were sentenced to three-year prison termsyesterday after a Brisbane District Court jury found them guilty of electoral fraud.
A Department of Corrective Services spokesman says it will take several days of mentaland physical examinations to determine if HANSON will be isolated or put in with the mainstream.
Prisoner advocate DEBBIE KILROY, from Sisters Inside, says HANSON may face some problemsin jail -- given her tough public stance on law and order issues and controversial policieson Aborigines and immigration.
Ms KILROY's told ABC radio that HANSON has never been sympathetic in her approach towomen in prison and their problems.
Government sources say HANSON has sought protective custody in prison.
ETTRIDGE is in the nearby Arthur Gorrie Reception and Remand Prison.
He will be assessed over the next few weeks to determine which jail he will serve his time in.
